It took me quite a few attempts to figure all this out but it is now quite routine. Once the connection is established, the Canon Connect app should work. Go to the normal WiFi set up on the phone, you should see the camera listed. When you first do it, the camera will display a "paasword" and wait for you to connect your device (the S4). You can set up connections to up to 3 devices this way. This is done in the WiFi menu on the camera. The secret seems to be to use Camera Access Point (CAP) mode on the camera. What am I doing wrong? Does my home Wi-Fi overpower the Canon and replace it? I can connect but the connection fails before I can start the app. I tried the Canon EOS app but it referred me to the newer Canon Connect app. Camera Connecr does have an optional focus button which I like.Īlso a new owner of the 760D and trying to establish a wireless remote connection with my S4 phone. I only discovered by accident, for example, that double tapping seems to zoom in on live view.įeatures lacking, compared to DSLR Controller, seem to me to include manual (more correctly remote) focus control, zoom level button and, I think, greater access to general camera functions, though still restricted by the camera firmware. I can't find any documentation on it either. My impression though is that it has less functionality than DSLR Contoller. It runs on the iPad, which means I wouldn't have to take tye Galaxy Tab with me as well as the iPad on trips. Secondly, I think that there mught be a fair bit of unnecessary loss of remote control functionality with WiFi remote compared to USB remote, according to Canon, for performance reasons. Canon's explanation is that on camera controls "have priority" over WiFi control, not an issue with tge TPLink interface though. Firstly the connection is lost every time you change mode on the camera. Strangely my newer Galaxy S5 doesn't work as well as an older Galaxy Tab 7, but the larger screen of the tablet it better anyway.Ī couple of annoyances, both Canon related I think. It works quite well, after some predicted issues with initial connection. I have being using DSLR Controller with the hacked TPLink pocket WiFi router and thought of using it with built in WiFi was very appealing. The prospect of remote shooting over WiFi was one of the drawcards. I am the happy new owner of a 760D, having started withh a 300D and upgraded a few times over the years.
